The Fair Chance Ordinance prohibits owners of certain rental housing units from performing a criminal background check on a prospective tenant and/or taking a prospective tenant's criminal background into consideration when making a decision to lease the unit. While not all units are subject to the prohibition, ALL units are required to notify tenants whether they are subject to the Fair Chance Ordinance or not.
